President Roger Casey leads a conversation with three of McDaniel’s stars in medicine: Doug Barnes ’79, Dentist; Ann Hackman ’80, Psychiatrist; and Sandra Ruby ’99, Neurologist.

Doug Barnes ’79 is professor and chair of the Department of General Dentistry and director of the Advanced Education in General Dentistry Program at the University of Maryland Dental School. He has also worked with the Department of Veterans Affairs and Health Care for the Homeless to provide free dental work to homeless veterans.

Ann Hackman ’80 is associate professor, associate residency training director, senior psychiatrist for RA1SE (Recovery After 1st Psychotic Episode) and director of community psychiatry training at University of Maryland. Over the past several years, her work has focused on young people with newly diagnosed psychosis and schizophrenia.

Sandra Geiman Ruby ’99 is a neurologist with the Carroll Health Group in Westminster and is the Stroke Medical Director at Carroll Hospital Center, where she provides both inpatient and outpatient consultations and acute stroke care.
