24 Hour Breast Augmentation Recovery | Austin Hayes MD
24 Hour Breast Augmentation Recovery offered by board certified plastic surgeon in Portland Oregon Austin Hayes MD.
My name is Austin Hayes and I'm a plastic surgeon with offices in Portland and Seattle and I want to talk to you today about breast augmentation specifically about the recovery. I get a lot of questions about the recovery from breast augmentation and they see pages on my website that talk about a 24 hour recovery. A 24 hour recovery refers to getting back to your day to day activities as soon as one day after your surgery.
How is this done? It's done by carefully planning every step of the procedure from the consultation to implant sizing, the way the surgery is performed and the way that we take care of your recovery after the procedure is done.
Starting with implant sizing we choose implants that fit naturally within your breast. Implants are placed under the muscle which gives them another layer of camouflage. The surgery is meticulously with very little blood loss and not a lot of trauma to your breasts.
I use a color funnel to insert the implant which minimizes trauma, minimizes bruising and decreases pain. After the procedure there are no tight wraps or bras. You only have to waterproof band-aids. You can shower immediately after the procedure and start raising your arms above your head. Raising your arms above your head relaxes your chest muscles and decreases pain. About 70% of my patients will only take ibuprofen and don't need anything stronger.
Now that you're back to day-to-day activities within the first 1 to 2 days then you continue to do your regular activities and you can get back to more vigorous things like running or doing cardio after 4 weeks and no restrictions at 6 weeks
