The first Surgical Artistry Modesto Marathon will be on March 21, 2010. Please see for more details or see
The Surgical Artistry Modesto Marathon starts downtown Modesto near the Doubletree. It is a beautiful out and back course, soon-to-be certified (as a Boston Qualifier). There will be a half marathon and 5K as well, so grab a friend, sign up and start your training now!
We also think it is the first Marathon with a Plastic Surgeon (Dr. Tammy Wu) as a title sponsor.
Greetings from Taipei Taiwan from Surgical Artistry Physicians Dr. Calvin Lee and Dr. Tammy Wu
Dr. Tammy Wu and Dr. Calvin Lee are on extended vacation in Taipei Taiwan visiting relatives and honing their medical skills in Plastic Surgery and Acupuncture. We will be back ito Modesto, CA, USA in the Fall of 2009.

Elgar Chanson de Matin played by Calvin Lee and Tammy Wu
Elgar Chanson de Matin played by Calvin Lee, MD on Violin and Tammy Wu, MD on Piano. Recorded 8/23/2010 in Modesto, California, USA. We actually don't get that much time to play violin and piano. More about us: Where we work: (Surgical Artistry, Modesto, CA) - we provide services in Plastic Surgery, Acupuncture, Veins, and Botox in Modesto, CA.
Tammy (Dr. Wu) thought that we should record a few pieces. The recorded here is a piece Chanson de Matin by Edward Elgar (written around 1888). No editing - just what we played is what you hear - brutal, but it is simpler and captures the moment best. This piece is special for us. It was a piece we learned together while we... were at Brown University to play for my Applied Music graduation recital (that was back in the 1990's). Fast forward, we are now playing it again in 2010 and I've pasted some of the best pictures found on my hard drive. Most of these were rescued from my laptop while it was under the influence of Vista. It is now thankfully resuscitated via Windows 7. This year has had its ups and downs for me, but overall it has really been a dream year for me. Thank you everyone.

YouTube Symphony - Calvin Lee MD Violin Video #2 Bach Presto
YouTube Symphony Audition
Bach Presto from Violin Sonata in G minor. This was my YouTube Symphony Audition video #2.
Thank you - everyone who supported me through this endeavor. I am going to Carnegie Hall!
I am a general surgeon and acupuncturist in Modesto, California, USA. I love the violin and music in general. This video was recorded in my empty house that wouldn't sell. At least I found a good use for it - empty houses have great acoustics apparently.
Besides music, I also make webpages for fun and for stress reduction:
The best web page to go to is:

Beethoven Piano Concerto 2 Calvin Lee Modesto Surgeon first recording
As I promised, just now, I recorded using my detail capturing microphones. This is my first time recording this Beethoven Concerto #2, first movement on these mics. I hope this is a good starting point for me to improve. I somehow won the piano competition generously set up by the Moments of Music Foundation in Beverly Hills and will get to play this in Los Angeles with the String Orchestra Project on October 25, 2015 (Sunday). I think I will be opening the program! I've used this recording setup for self improvement before - it is a great self-teaching tool for me. I am very grateful for Karla A Valente and Bill Valente and Guitar Center for helping me. For sure there is much for me to improve upon and I look forward to working on this much much more. Thank you piano professor Yan Yan Chan. Thank you all in advance for any comments.

You Raise Me Up was written by the band Secret Garden and championed by Josh Groban and many others. Many, including myself, have wanted to participate in this uplifting and heartfelt music. I am playing this on my violin as a violin cover on Christmas Day 2018. I am a surgeon in Modesto, California.
