Tenex Fast Procedure - Dr. Alain Elbaz - New treatment for Tennis and Golfer's Elbow
Tenex Fast Procedure - Focused Aspiration of scar tissue.
The fast procedure is designed to remove scar tissue in damaged tendons. This is done by dissolving the damaged tissue. Normal tissue is not affected. Ultrasound imaging assures that the procedure is done only on scar tissue.
Based on technology developed in collaboration with Mayo Clinic, ultrasonic energy is used to debride, emulsify, and aspirate degenerated tissue through the pen-like ultrasonic hand piece allowing for superb control throughout the procedure.
The Tenex Fast Procedure provides a unique advantage to both physicians and patients. The procedure is minimally invasive, safe, and effective with expected recovery time less than more invasive procedures.
Dr. Alain Elbaz from Houston, Texas, performs this intervention on a young female patient with chronic elbow pain that has not responded to rest and medication. The Procedure can be done with a local anesthetic injection in most patients, but can also be done under sedation or general anesthesia depending on patient preference.
After the area is cleansed. A very small incision is made over the injured area. A needle like hand-held device is then advanced to the damage tendon. This is a done under ultrasound imaging so that the device and damage to tissue can be seen. Once the device comes into contact with the damaged tissue a few seconds of treatment dissolve the tissue and then aspirate it back using a suction. All areas of the damaged tendon are treated. Once the procedure is finished usually after 20-30 seconds adhesive tape is placed over the small incision which will heal in a few days.
Other conditions can be treated such as golfers elbow, patellar tendinitis or jumper's knee, Achilles tendinitis, and plantar fasciitis.
