Dr. Rafatjoo is currently in Private Practice at Newport Family Medicine in Newport Beach, CA. Dr. Rafatjoo specializes in mood disorders, especially among children and adolescents.
A graduate of Newport Christian High School, Dr. Rafatjoo went on to earn both his Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences (with Cum Laude honors) and his Doctor of Medicine Degree from the University of California, Irvine. While an undergraduate student at UCI, Dr. Rafatjoo served as an EMT at Hoag Memorial Hospital and earned an “Excellence in Research” Award. As a graduate student, Dr. Rafatjoo earned numerous awards and accolades for his leadership and research skills, including the UCI College of Medicine Student Leadership Award.
After Dr. Rafatjoo graduated from the UCI College of Medicine, he served as a Physician for various health organizations and clinics in Orange County and the Inland Empire. In 1998, Dr. Rafatjoo opened his private practice in Newport Beach, specializing in Family Medicine, where he continues to serve patients to this present day. Off to the side, he has also served as Medical Director of Newport Center Urgent Care (2007-2008) and Eastbluff Medical Walk-In (2010-2011).
Dr. Rafatjoo has continued to actively conduct research while serving as a Family Physician. He has authored over 12 research and conference presentations, including a study on the incidence of headaches in football players. Dr. Rafatjoo has also contributed to publications which investigate treatment of AIDS patients and the practice of Internal Medicine.
Known for his sense of humor, Dr. Rafatjoo is fluent in Spanish, French, and Farsi in addition to English. When he is not practicing medicine, Dr. Rafatjoo enjoys gourmet cooking, organic gardening, exotic plant collecting, deep sea fishing, and SCUBA diving. Dr. Ali Rafatjoo is a family medicine doctor in Newport Beach, California and is affiliated with Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian. He received his medical degree from University of California Irvine School of Medicine and has been in practice for more than 20 years.
