Dr. Benjamin Epstein Explains Shoulder Surgery Recovery Time and Rehabilitation
Recovery time for shoulder surgery average between 2 to 3 months but actually takes anywhere from 6 months to a year to fully recovery. That doesn't mean that you are out of work or basically disabled from your job for that long a period of time. You are usually moving the shoulder at approximately 3 to 4 weeks and going through a rehabilitation program for approximately 6 to 8 weeks.

Dr. Benjamin Epstein Discusses Hip Surgery Recovery Time
The recovery time for hip replacement varies from surgeon to surgeon. Most hips today are non-cemented, they are pressed mesitabulun with some screws. I personally tend to not allow my patients to walk for the first four weeks full weight-bearing because its like setting a post -- putting concrete with the post in the ground, you want the concrete to mature, you don't want the post to be shifting around.

Dr. Benjamin Epstein Explains Knee Surgery Recovery Time and Rehabilitation
Regardless of the procedure being done, partial knee or total knee, the hospitalization is usually 1 to 3 days, more for the total knee. You still have to worry about blood loss in many of these patients and you do have the possibility of a blood transfusion for the surgeries. However, the patients are fully weight bearing, use a walker, many patients go to a rehab center afterwards, some can go home if they have enough family support and the recovery is 4 to 6 weeks to get back your strength and power back, around 3 to 4 months to be fully functional.

Dr. Benjamin Epstein Discusses Shoulder Treatment Options
Most common surgeries about the shoulder include rotator cuff repair, fracture management, impingement, For sports medicine: laboral tears, laboral repair, shoulder instability, dislocations. For more involved problems, such as arthritis, treatment can be conservative with injections, and inflammatory medications, but surgery can be part of a shoulder replacement, a total shoulder replacement or patients with rotator cuff problems can have a reverse shoulder replacement. All of these are done with the same anterior approach but require different restrictions post operatively in order to gain the function that we are looking for.

Dr. Benjamin Epstein Discusses Knee Pain Treatment Options
Treatments for knee problems, similar to hips, but a little bit different you are able to aspirate the knee if there is fluid and put a cortico steroid preparation in it The anti-inflammatory medications vary from the over the counter at a higher dose or prescription medications. There's even low dose prednazone that one can give as well to help with acute inflammation. Some of the ways to treat the knees other than cortico steroid preparations have whats known as the sodium or the chicken juice that people talk about. There are several of them available. There is one that is synthetic that is made from the roosters comb so that people who have allergies to eggs or chicken can still have the senovial lubricants placed in the knee that's the sodium hyeronae If that doesn't work, or that fails, then further options include work up with MRI, and other diagnostic studies to determine whether or not we need to proceed with arthroscopic surgery or even joint arthroplasty, or replacement surgery.

Dr. Benjamin Epstein Explains Partial vs. Total Knee Replacements
When thinking about joint arthroplasty or joint replacement, there are two options for the knee. One is a partial knee replacement, the other is a total knee replacement The partial knee replacements, unfortunately, are only limited to the inside or medial side of the knee at this point in time because of the designs that are out there and available. They are for short term relief, they are not long term fixes of the problem, they are usually set up for patients who are more senior that have less demands placed on the knee.
