New Studies -- Exercise Can Keep Dementia at Bay
Local Neurologist and Anti-Aging Specialist Discusses How To Help Your Loved One Stay Sharp
According to alz.org (Fig. 3) the projected changes in Alzheimer's prevalence in Florida will increase from 49.1% to 81.0% between 2012 and 2025. But, West Palm based neurosurgeon and anti-aging specialist Dr. Bret Osborn says, there is good news for those who have parents reaching the elderly stages of their lives. Two recent studies found that regular exercise can keep dementia at bay - even if it's in your genes. Regular workouts increase the size of the brain's memory area and along with diet and keeping them busy, you can help keep your parents mind sharp. Dr. Osborn, also an avid athlete, says these studies simply suggest that exercise may be the new prescription for slowing and delaying the onset on dementia.
From his medical and strength conditioning background, he bring you tips on helping your loved one keep dementia at bay, plus a qualified discussion on the new research and how the findings may revolutionize in the way we treat dementia.
The medical science behind the findings How can you encourage and help your senior workout safely and effectively Why muscle matters to seniors and what you can do about it What dietary changes can seniors make to keep their mind sharp How simple activities and tasks can also help strengthen your seniors mind
