Dr. Councill Rudolph investigated for overdose deaths

An area doctor is under scrutiny after a number of overdose deaths.

Federal authorities raided medical clinics in Franklin and Coffee counties to seize records as part of a three-year investigation.

The clinics are owned and operated by Dr. Councill Courtland Rudolph.

Officials say Rudolph overprescribed medication at the Quik Care clinic in Decherd, and another clinic in Manchester.

But Rudolph says he's never over-prescribed medication and that the feds, are on a fishing expedition.

The doctor says he remembers one of the agents visiting his office as a patient on two occasions.

He's also refused to surrender his license to federal authorities.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office won't say how many of Rudolph's patients have died - from overdoses.
