2012 Columbia Alumni Medalist David Roye Jr.

David P. Roye Jr., MD '75PS has been a member of the Columbia community since his graduation from medical school. He remained on the house staff as an orthopedic surgery resident and joined the Physicians and Surgeons faculty in 1980 as an instructor in orthopedic surgery. In 1987 Dr. Roye was appointed the director of pediatric orthopedic surgery at the then Babies Hospital at CUMC and in 1997 became the St. Giles Professor of Pediatric Orthopaedic surgery at Physicians and Surgeons. He has overseen the organization's growth into a world-renowned orthopedic practice for children; he has also contributed to the scientific community with hundreds of journal publications and book chapters.
