Dr. Alexander was born in Bophal, India and was raised in Irving, Texas where he graduated from Nimitz High School in 1994. He graduated from the University of Dallas in Irving with a Bachelor of Science in physics in 1998. He received his doctorate from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston in 2002 and completed his Residency in general surgery at The Methodist Hospital in Houston in 2007. Dr. Alexander’s training included substantial time at St. Joseph Medical Center in Houston and Brackenridge Medical Center in Austin, Texas. He also rotated through MD Anderson Cancer Center and Memorial Hermann Medical Center in Houston as well as the Children’s Hospital of Austin.
Dr. Alexander has been in practice in North Texas since 2007. He is a staff surgeon at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. He has been volunteer teaching staff at JPS for the Baylor general surgery residents since 2007. He is also on staff at Baylor All Saints Medical Center in Fort Worth. Dr. Alexander has also been a staff surgeon at the Methodist Medical Center in Mansfield since late 2007. He is currently the chief of the department of surgery in Mansfield.
Dr. Alexander is trained and certified in General Surgery which includes surgery of the alimentary tract (esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon and rectum), surgery of the hepatobiliary system (liver, gallbladder, pancreas and bile ducts), surgery of the thyroid, surgery of the breast, and surgery of the skin and soft tissue. He specializes in minimally invasive surgery including Da Vinci robot-assisted surgery. He also performs endoscopy in the diagnosis and management of reflux disease and colon cancer.
