Meet Dr. Georges Hajj in this video

Dr. Georges Hajj is a cardiologist with UnityPoint Clinic – Cardiology. He’s taken an amazing path to arrive here in Cedar Rapids. He began his journey to become a doctor as a boy growing up in North Lebanon.

He was inspired to become a cardiologist because he grew up watching his grandmother receive care for
chronic heart failure. He admired the doctors who traveled great distances to care for her.

He was so determined to become a doctor he worked hard in school and was ranked first in all of Lebanon in math and physics. He was awarded a full scholarship for medical school in Beirut.

“I cannot express how grateful I was for this opportunity,” said Dr. Hajj “In order to honor this gift, over the following many years, I focused on becoming the best physician I could possibly be.”

He traveled to the United States and was matched at the University of Iowa (UI) for residency. In 2008 he received “Intern Of The Year” and “Resident Of The Year” in 2009. At the end of his third year of residency, he received the “Ernest O. Theilen Award” by the Cardiology Division.

Dr. Hajj’s areas of expertise are cardiology, echocardiography, interventional cardiology and peripheral vascular disease.
