Hello, I'm Ilene Ruhoy. I am a board-certified neurologist, and I am the founder of the Center For Healing Neurology. Neurologic symptoms can really impair quality of life, and so it's always been my mission to help people feel good and healthy and happy for as long as they can.
We see a variety of ailments. We see a lot of headaches and migraines and in fact, have a headache clinic. We see seizure disorders as we see a lot of neuropathies, vertigo, traumatic brain injury. We do concussion care. We do muscle disorders and nerve disorders. In addition, we do a lot of preventative care. We work to help our patients prevent the onset of symptoms, and certainly, we work to help them prevent the progression of symptoms.
My training is in Pediatric and Adult Neurology, and I trained both at the University or Washington and Seattle Children's Hospital. I went to Medical School in Pittsburgh at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, and I'm originally from New York, so I'm a native New Yorker. I also did a Ph.D. in Environmental Toxicology as well as did fellowship training in both Integrative Medicine and Neuromuscular Medicine. And I've done intensive training in herbal formulations as well as became a Certified Medical Acupuncturist.
I opened a private practice so that I could combine the various aspects of my background to help patients in a more holistic, integrated manner.
A patient with post-herpetic neuralgia was greatly responsive to a combination of herbal formulations and acupuncture. And she was so pleased because, anyone who has suffered from post-herpetic neuralgia knows that it's very painful, can be very debilitating and interfere with quality of life. And so, we've had great success with that as well as a lot of other types of neuropathies.
My patients would say that I'm accessible and that I listen well and I only know this because that's what they have told me. I think that they appreciate my thorough approach. I often explain to them that our relationship is a bit of a journey and with every appointment, I know them on a deeper and deeper level, and that often helps in their care quite frankly. So, I think my patients would say that I listen well and I care very much, which I do.
