Jason Cundiff is a general surgeon and founder of Pacific Northwest Surgery Outreach, a humanitarian organization that brings surgical care to extreme medically underserved environments worldwide. His love of mountaineering gave birth to the stepwise approach to responded to crisis and emergency, as relevant in the operating suite as on a 5000 meter glacier peak. In this engaging talk, he shares the applicability of this awareness that emerged during the days he decided to stay in New Orleans immediately following Hurricane Katrina.
Originally from the Northeast, Jason has made Yakima, Washington his home for the past six years. He works as a general surgeon in Yakima where he specializes in minimally invasive and trauma surgery and is one of the most experienced robotic general surgeons in the country. He is also the founder and medical director of a local nonprofit, Pacific Northwest Surgical Outreach (pnwsurgicaloutreach.org/), which has conducted surgical missions in Africa, Central & South America. In his spare time, he is an avid mountaineer and has summited mountains on four continents.
