Dr. Kevin Green From Corporatist Medicine to Free-Market Medicine
After decades of increased regulation, mandates, incentives, and subsidies within healthcare, Obamacare has precipitated something remarkable -- and completely unintended: an emerging free market in medicine!
Some consumers have become quite cost conscious as their co-pays and deductibles have grown beyond what it would cost to simply pay a free-market doctor directly. For others, the treatment they seek and the physicians who provide it aren’t recognized by their private insurance or government program, forcing them outside the status quo.
Meanwhile, a burgeoning number of physicians are fed up with the hassle, underpayment, and perverse incentives of third-party payment systems and are starting cash-for-service clinics, allowing them to focus once again on their patients without wasting hours dictating codes and arguing with bureaucrats.
Dr. Kevin Green is a local physician who has recently taken the plunge and declared his independence from “the system.” On Tuesday, July 15, he will describe his journey from corporatist medicine to free-market medicine and share his ideas for improving healthcare for everyone.
Bio Sketch: Dr. Green is the founder of Green Medicine of Wisconsin, a direct-pay practice located in Oshkosh that blends traditional medicine with a focus on natural healing through nutrition and proper living. He was formerly the chief of microbiology, immunology, and virology at a large regional hospital. As a former Air Force pilot, he still enjoys flying today.
“Away, then, with quacks and organizers! ... Away with their artificial systems! Away with the whims of governmental administrators, their socialized projects, their centralization, … their regulations, their restrictions, their equalization by taxation, and their pious moralizations! And now that the legislators and do-gooders have so futilely inflicted so many systems upon society, may they finally end where they should have begun: May they reject all systems, and try liberty; for liberty is an acknowledgment of faith in God and His works.”
