A doctor from Mount Laurel was shot and killed by her husband before he turned the gone on himself inside the wife's Pennsauken office Tuesday afternoon, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.
The murder-suicide occurred during lunchtime at Dr. Michelle Liggio's office on the 7700 block of Maple Avenue in Pennsauken. Dr. Liggio, 47, was shot by her husband Christopher Liggio, 58, who then killed himself, police said.
Police initially received a report of a disturbance at the family practice and it appears the shooting happened moments after the dispute began.
NBC Philadelphia reported that the husband had confronted his wife because she had filed for divorce. Employees told NBC they heard the doctor plead no, no, no before hearing a few gunshots and running outside to call 911.
There were a few gunshots and then a police officer came in and they told us to get away from the windows, James Strong who manages the Tortilla Press Cantina across the street, told NBC.

r. Michelle Liggio, a South New Jersey doctor was killed by her husband Christopher, after filing for divorce, according to Pennsauken police, as reported by NBC10 Philadelphia. Dr. Michelle Liggio's staffers told police that Christopher Liggio came to the office during the lunch hour and the couple began arguing reportedly over their estrangement, and that she asked for a divorce.
Workers reported hearing Dr. Liggio plead, No, no, no, before they heard five gunshots. Employees inside the office ran outside at that point and someone called 911.
A SWAT team responded.
There were a few gunshots and then a police officer came in and they told us to get away from the windows, said the manager of the Tortilla Press Cantina, said. It was surreal. We're in here preparing for lunch crowd and then this happened. Strong said.
Both Dr. Liggio and her husband were both dead. The Liggios are from Mt. Laurel, New Jersey and have two children.
Dr. Liggio attended the University of uof Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.School of Osteopathic Medicine and graduated in 1993. She was known as a highly respected family doctor in Pennsauken, NJ. This kind of doctor is a general practitioner who treats most family members from children to adults, according to wellness.com.

A man and a woman are dead after a shooting at a Pennsauken doctor's office early this afternoon. The shooting occurred inside the Maple Professional Center at 7665 Maple Ave. in Pennsauken, where a sign identifies only one tenant: Dr. Michelle E. Liggio.
Dr. Liggio and her husband, businessman Christopher Liggio, have co-owned the building, since 2005, according to tax records.
Police have not yet identified the victims or said what led to the shooting, but a source at the scene described a murder-suicide in which a man believed to be Christopher Liggio walked into the Maple Avenue office and shot Dr. Liggio.
Authorities are not currently searching for anyone in connection with the crime.
Estine Wells, whose husband, Dr. Richard Wells, was a colleague of Dr. Liggio's, told the Courier-Post: We are totally, totally, heartbroken over this tragedy, and completely overcome by the enormity of the situation. Our heartfelt prayers go out to the entire family.
According to a patient of Liggio's who asked not to be identified, the couple have two children. A neighbor of the Liggios' in Mount Laurel, Deborah Shestack, said she knew the couple and expressed concern for the boys.
Our hearts go out to them, and we hope they get some space and time to heal. Our prayers are with the family, but especially the boys. According to tax records, the Liggios have owned a home on Brookwood Road since 1995.
