Dr. Nate Johnson explores the nature of Blue Zone communities, the former blue zone of Roseto, Pennsylvania and how communities can work to improve health and longevity. Nathan Johnson is a family physician in practice here in Monroe County. He earned his bachelor's degree in biology from Cornell University and his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. He is also serves a commander in the U.S. Naval Reserve. His work in the Navy has taken him around the world, including posts in blue zone, communities known for health and longevity, such as Okinawa and Italy. His talk will examine what makes a community a blue zone, including the community of Rosetto, Pennsylvania, a former blue zone. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at
