Dastardly Doctor—Dr Robert Biter of Encinitas
Hundreds of people once rallied in his defense, including a celebrity talk show host, but there is new controversy over a North County doctor who has delivered hundreds of local babies.
Dr. Robert Biter surrendered his medical license amid accusations of botched surgeries and repeated negligence.
Bob Vaage is an attorney representing a family who went to Biter. Their baby died and the couple tried to sue.
When the lawsuit was brought, he declared bankruptcy, said he had no assets in bankruptcy court, said Vaage.
Yet 10News has learned Biter plans to open a location in Encinitas. A Facebook page lists him as CEO.
As 10News reported in 2010, there were other accusations of gross and repeated negligence against Biter.
The Medical Board of California told 10News a complaint was filed accusing Biter of removing the wrong ovary of a woman, performing an unnecessary cesarean section and performing a hysterectomy without patient consent.
Biter surrendered his license to practice medicine in this state in November of 2013.
10News reported on North County rallies in support of Biter in 2010. At the time, former TV talk show host Ricki Lake posted a tweet saying, Bring Dr. Biter back!
Lake spoke with 10News that year.
This is a man who has given his life, has no outside life, other than the care that he provides for his patients, she said.
Now, a social media push is on to stop Biter from practicing.
Vaage says the public needs to be reminded of Biter's past and wants to know what Biter's exact role will be at the birth center.
We want people to know this gentleman's history before they make a decision about whether or not this birthing center is the place for them to go, said Vaage.
10News reached out to Biter but has not heard back from him. A protest at the Encinitas location is planned for Saturday.
Pregnant Running Full Term With My San Diego Obgyn Dr. Robert Biter - Fitness During Pregnancy
Cindy from Running Skirts is full term and has a visit with San Diego Obgyn Dr. Robert Biter at his Babies By the Sea clinic in Encinitas. They both decide to do a 5K trail race together and be dressed in hospital gown and scrubs just in case. Will Dr. Biter keep up with the full term pregnant runner? Cindy has run over 20 races and has ran almost everyday to keep her fitness up during pregnancy. Before beginning any excercise during pregnancy you should consult with a qualified doctor first. The 5k race was a success and there was no baby delivery today . They finished their cool down run along beach in Cardiff by the Sea and will have to wait for another day for labor delivery. Robert BIter owns Babies By The Sea Boutique in Cardiff, CA and is a San Diego based Obgyn.
