Pain that goes on for more than about four to six weeks generally means that the pain may not be, is not going to get better without doing something.

And that's where potentially seeing a specialist, whether it's an orthopaedist or even your primary care physician, they can get some quick x-rays, whether it's the hip or the knee, and then determine if something else is needed whether it's an MRI or injection.
